Acupuncture

          Acupuncture is a system of healthcare which has been used for countless centuries with the intention of bringing healing to people with any and all ailments from the common cold to serious and chronic illness.  Acupuncture sessions bring balance to mind, body, and spirit.

          The source of acupuncture is the awareness of universal balancing forces of life that exist both in the world around us and within the body.  When there is conflict in our life or within the body(disease/symptoms), the imbalance is simultaneously represented within the acupuncture system.  Bringing balance to the acupuncture system also restores proper function (physiology) to the body.

          The acupuncture system consists of highways of energy channeling through our bodies (meridians), each representing a different aspect of life.  The meridians are an integral communication pathway in the body.  It is vital for optimum health to maintain proper communication within the body, in both the nervous and acupuncture systems.  Balancing the acupuncture system affects all systems in the body including the nervous system.

          The acupuncture meridians are classified into five main categories corresponding to the types of imbalances which affect them.  These are Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, and Fire.*  There are further classifications and the practice of acupuncture can be quite complex; however, from the patient's point of view, it is a simple and relaxing, yet effective goal oriented session.  The session may be accompanied with aroma therapy, Reiki, and soft healing music.
